Sleeping is overrated

I kidd- I kidd! I really miss sleeping through the night... which I figure I have not done since I was oh.... 8 months pregnant. Add that to the time little Miss Princess has been alive, and we're talking at least 5 months of interrupted sleeping patterns. I know I shouldn't complain- she does only get up once a night to feed and we're only awake a total of around 30 minutes, but when you are a sleep hog like myself, it sucks!

I've tried everything to get this girl to snooze for 10 hours: adding rice cereal to her diet, feeding her later, putting her to bed later, waking her up to feed at 10pm, you name it, I've done it! No matter what, she will wake up at either 1:30 or 3:30 and be a hungry hippo!

Last night she slept with us because for some reason her bedroom is really cold at night. (This totally erks me in that we live in a brand new house- and her room and the guest room right next to it will not contain heat-grrr) And in order to keep our daughter from freezing to death in her sleep, KK and I decided that until the temperature is above -14 at night, she will be sleeping with us. Which is totally fine, I sleep like the dead and she doesn't take up much space in our king-size bed. But I thought for sure that having the comfort of her mom and pop would help her snooze her way to 5:30 am but nooooooo, she was up and hungry at 1:30! I even tried rocking her and walking around, but that girl was not going back to sleep without some nummie in her tummie!

And so I've basically resolved myself to the idea that I will never sleep through the night again- and that I will have ugly bags under my eyes for the rest of my adult life. And ugly bags mixed with bad hair does not make a good combo!

The worst part is even when they do sleep through the night, you don't! They get you so trained at waking up at a certain time that you wake up anyway. Callie sleeps really well now but I wake up multiple times a night - it sucks!!! You'd think I'd be rested with the both sleeping 11-12 hours a night but oh no, I feel and look wiped out! Hey, maybe it's not the sleep thing but just having kids that is so tiring. (Holy crap, right Morgan is singing some horrid Christmas songs (with made up words) at the top of his lungs - will I make it through this day????)

I miss sleeping through the night too. No matter what, I am awake at least 2 times per night...and I really miss sleeping in past the hour of 5:30a.m. or 6:00a.m. on the weekends.

Oh well, I'll catch up on my sleep when she moves out in oh 17 or 18 years.... ;-)

I know I must sound like a little no it all, and I try not to, I promise!! But... Mr man JUST started sleeping through the night... Kind of. He still needs re-adjusting and a pacifier every now and again, but overall he is doing MUCH better. I just hope you will stick with it! It WILL get better I promise!! Here's to napping in the day, or getting a babysitter and overdosing on EggNog!

Yeah, Blair wakes once between 1-3am. It is not bad for me though cause I nurse. He is also co-sleeping with us. I just try to remind myself, as you do, that this is all part of the blessing that is our child. :)

you know, i think they go through stages. shep was sleeping through the night and then he started teething and so, no more. right now it's pretty bad. i think i get about maybe two hours total sleep every night. it really stinks and i'm a walking zombie. but i also have a twelve year old who does sleep all night, so i know it does end, eventually :)

Up only once a night? I look forward to those evenings. :)

Tonight will be my second night of dreamfeeding. So far it's buying me an extra couple hours of sleep, but I'm hoping it'll lead to more.
